How the whole-home package works

The idea is simple: generate power when the sun is out, store what you do not need straight away, then use that stored energy to run the house and charge the car when it suits you.

With the right tariff, the battery can also buy electricity cheaply overnight and discharge during expensive peak periods. That combination — solar self-consumption, battery arbitrage and scheduled EV charging — is where the biggest savings typically come from.

A typical day

  1. Morning: the battery tops up the car before you leave, using overnight cheap-rate electricity or stored solar from the previous day.
  2. Daytime: solar powers the house and any surplus charges the battery.
  3. Evening: the battery discharges to cover cooking, heating and lighting, avoiding peak-rate imports.
  4. Overnight: if the tariff has a cheap window, the battery and car recharge ready for the next day.
